Soybean Seed Production and Feasibility Supporting Seed Independent Villages in Tidal Swamp Lands Jambi Province
Soybean production can be increased through soybean cultivation technology including quality seeds and superior varieties. The purpose of this study was to produce and the feasibility of Devon 1 soybean plant seed sources to support independent seed villages in tidal swamps land. This study was carried out on farmer's land with a planting area of 2.0 ha and the Devon 1 white label variety in Bandar Jaya Village, Rantau Rasau District, East Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province with a tidal swamp agroecosystem of acid sulfate land typology and waterlogging type C. The results showed the plant height growth was 76.3 cm, the number of branches was 3.85, the number of filled pods and empty pods/plant were 54.9 and 0.85 respectively and the yield was 2.40 t/ha. The production of soybean seeds was 1,000 kg of purple label and 1,400 kg of consumption soybean production. The analysis of soybean seeds obtained an income of IDR 15,000,000 and consumption production obtained an income of IDR 9,800,000. Total income was IDR 24,800,000 (R/C 2.26). The income from soybean seeds and consumption was greater than the income of farmers of IDR 9,100,000 (R/C ratio 1.99) meaning there was an increase of 63.31 percent.
