The Relationship between Fintech and Sustainable Investment Performance

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of fintech applications on sustainable investment performance in Türkiye. With the widespread adoption of fintech technologies, the digitalization of financial services has introduced a new paradigm in terms of both economic efficiency and sustainability. In this context, the number of internet banking users is considered as an indicator of fintech, while CO₂ emissions are used as an indicator of environmental sustainability. A simple linear regression analysis was conducted using quarterly data from the period between 2016 and 2024. The research findings indicate a significant and negative relationship between the increase in internet banking usage and the level of carbon emissions. This result reveals that digital banking solutions not only enhance financial inclusion but also contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing the consumption of physical resources.
