Kinetic models of bioactive compounds production from

Styraxparalleloneurum is one part of the styrax plant that can be used as a medicinal agent because the leaf contains various bioactive compounds with potential antioxidant and antibacterial activities. Bioactive compounds from the Styrax paralleloneurum can be obtained more efficiently through the fermentation process. In previous research, phenolic compounds can be enhanced through the submerged fermentation method (SmF), from 40.834 mg GAE/g to 92.75 mg GAE/g. Therefore, this research is conducted by observing the kinetics model of phenolic compound production from the fermented Styrax paralleloneurum using the submerged fermentation method by Aspergillus niger, and the varied parameter is the agitation speed. By knowing the production kinetics model, further process parameters can be optimized. In this study, the optimum agitation speed for total phenol extraction was found to be 150 rpm, as determined by the kinetic model rp = 0.6369 × Cp0. For saponin, the optimum speed was 150 rpm with the kinetic model rp = 0.0186 x Cp0. For the steroid, the optimum speed was 100 rpm with the kinetic model rp = 0.0435 × Cp1. For flavonoid, the optimum speeds were 50 rpm with the kinetic model rp = 0.0674 × Cp0 and 150 rpm with the kinetic model rp=0.0362 × Cp1.
