Analyzing Student Satisfaction in Interactive Online Learning Platforms Among Information Technology Students in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Online learning has become a central component of modern higher education, particularly within Information Technology (IT) programs where digital competence is essential. This study examines the predictors of student satisfaction with interactive online learning platforms among IT students in the Colombo urban area of Sri Lanka. A quantitative design was employed using a structured questionnaire administered to 105 students. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing, exploratory factor analysis, and ANOVA. Findings identified four major predictors of satisfaction: lecturer performance, student–lecturer interaction, quality of course evaluation, and online learning system quality. Demographic factors, including age, gender, academic level, and Experience did not significantly influence satisfaction. The results emphasize the importance of strong pedagogical interaction, stable technology, and systematic evaluation procedures. Recommendations include improving technical support, enhancing instructor digital competencies, and enriching interactive components of online platforms. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on online learning effectiveness in developing countries.
