Offline-Resilient QR Payments: Guaranteed Transactions via Tokenized Batch Synchronization in Low-Connectivity Fintech Environments
This paper proposes an offline-resilient QR payment system that uses one-time encrypted tokens to ensure guaranteed transactions in African fintech markets with unreliable connectivity. Customers generate scannable QR codes containing encrypted payment details, while merchants store the tokens offline and batch-synchronize them once connectivity is restored—resulting in zero failed transactions. Grounded in fintech white-paper structures and digital payment literature, the methodology outlines token cryptography, secure device-level storage, and automated deferred settlement. Expected outcomes include a 90% reduction in transaction failures for supermarkets and significantly enhanced customer trust, positioning this model as a scalable RegTech innovation for financial inclusion. The system operates through a four-step flow:customer app → merchant scan → offline token storage → automated batch sync.
