The Effectiveness of YouTube Channel-Based Learning in Improving Engineering Students' Understanding of Stoichiometry in General Chemistry at Batangas State University

This is a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design that investigated the effectiveness of YouTube channel-based learning in improving the understanding of stoichiometry in General Chemistry among first-year Sanitary Engineering students at Batangas State University. A total of about 30 participants, chosen through convenience sampling, were administered parallel-form Stoichiometry Tests covering mole concept, equation balancing, conversions, and limiting reagents before and after viewing curated YouTube videos with guided practice. The non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed significant post-test improvements, Z=0.0, p=0.001349, and perception surveys established strong agreement, weighted means 3.08-3.42, on enhanced knowledge, attitudes, and engagement. These findings establish proof for multimedia learning theories and recommend YouTube as a supplementary tool for abstract chemistry topics in engineering education.
