Study of the Chinese Collection at the Victor Balaguer Library Museum: Analysing Material Characteristics, Provenance, and the Conservation States of the Artistic and Documentary Holdings

By examining the unique Chinese collection at the Biblioteca Museo Víctor Balaguer, this study will provide insights into the material characteristics, provenance, and conservation status of the artistic and documentary collections. The research will catalog and analyze 43 oriental books, 11 handwritten letters, and 35 paintings from the museum's collection. Furthermore, it will explore the conservation of intangible cultural heritage, such as wedding ceremonies and funerals from the late Qing dynasty, by studying two paintings by Zhou Peichun( 周 培 春 ) (1880-1910). This research will contribute to understanding Chinese collecting in Barcelona and its impact on Catalan cultural heritage.
