Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and the Global Quest for Labour Rights: A Vision of Social and Economic Democracy,” authored by Mr. Ganesh Shrirang Satarkar (M.A. Sociology, Central University of Haryana), is published in the Worldwide International Inter Disciplinary Research Journal (WIIDRJ), Vol. I, Issue CXXXVIII, dated 4–5 December 2025. This paper critically examines Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s transformative contributions to labour rights and social justice, emphasizing his vision of social and economic democracy as an essential foundation for human dignity. The study analyses Ambedkar’s landmark reforms—including the eight-hour workday, paid leave, maternity benefits, social insurance, and the establishment of Employment Exchanges—which reshaped labour policy in India and anticipated global standards later formalized by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Drawing upon Ambedkar’s principles of equality, liberty, and fraternity, the paper explores how his integrated approach addressed both economic exploitation and social discrimination. It further highlights the contemporary global relevance of his ideas in the context of precarious employment, digital labour platforms, and neoliberal economic transitions. The findings underscore that Ambedkar’s labour philosophy offers a universal ethical framework for building equitable, humane, and democratic labour systems in the twenty-first century.
