Information Transfer Cycle in the Digital Medium: Inspired by Lancaster's Information Transfer Cycle

This work presents the Information Transfer Cycle in the digital environment, drawing inspiration from Lancaster’s classical model. It explains how information moves from user needs and application-driven activities through authors, publishers, indexing services, libraries, and finally to user assimilation and research and development. The work emphasizes the role of digital technologies such as online databases, open-access platforms, AI-based search tools, and institutional repositories in reshaping every stage of knowledge creation, access, and use. It also examines the faster pace of information flow, wider accessibility, interactive communication, and the growing challenges of information overload and digital inequality in today’s information landscape.
