Control system implementation for temperature monitoring and control for CBXFEL project
The Cavity-Based Free Electron Laser (CBXFEL) project, a collaboration between Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, aims to produce a recirculating X-ray cavity for SLAC Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) Hard X-ray (HXR) undulator line. The cavity formed by crystal mirrors will facilitate FEL amplification and Bragg monochromatization [1]. To minimize losses, all cavity crystals must be maintained at the same temperature within +/- 0.4 °C. To support this requirement, a calibrated heater and temperature sensor will be installed at each crystal to ensure this stability. This paper focuses on the architecture and de-sign implemented for the project including sensor calibration and control loop tuning.
