Enhancing CERN experimental areas beamline configuration management with data-driven schematics

The beamlines in CERN's experimental areas are continuously evolving to meet the demands of a rich and diverse physics program. Various data management systems are used to efficiently plan, document, and track this evolution, describing past, present, and future beamline layouts, including equipment positions, dimensions, connections, assemblies, and their relationships with underlying physical assets. To support this work, a data-driven software application has been developed and is exposed to users via a web interface. This application generates schematics for both experimental area beamlines and connected particle accelerators. The paper highlights the added value of this solution, its technical design and key implementation aspects, emphasizing the role of effective data-driven visualization. A case study demonstrates the practical application of the software. Additionally, the paper discusses future improvements, including the ongoing development towards data-driven synoptics with associated intuitive beamline controls.
