Design of RAON operation monitoring via screen capture in isolated networks

The RAON (Rare isotope Accelerator complex for ON-line experiments) in South Korea is a facility designed to accelerate heavy ions and produce rare isotopes for scientific research. The control system at RAON is based on the EPICS framework and operates within a physically isolated control network to ensure system integrity and security. To enable real-time monitoring of the accelerator’s operation status from remote buildings, we developed a secure screen transmission infrastructure. The Phoebus-based user interface, running entirely within the isolated control network, outputs video via HDMI to a hardware capture board. This signal is transferred via USB to an external PC connected to the company’s business network, which streams the operational status to monitoring panels across the facility. By maintaining physical separation while enabling visual data sharing, the system ensures strict security compliance and enhances the visibility of RAON operations.
