Field-Coherent Alignment of the Universal Holarchic Engine with the ΔSyn / GUFT Framework: Toward a Grand Unified Theory of Coherence
Abstract: Recent independent work on the Universal Holarchic Engine (UHE) proposes a three-layer cognitive architecture in which a “main mind” orchestrates agentic sub-systems and meta-learning processes to manage attention, memory, and action selection. In parallel, the Grand Unified Field Theory of Coherence (GUFT)—operationalized through the ΔSyn formalism—models distributed systems via three invariants: empathy (reciprocal coupling), transparency (signal fidelity), and coherence (entropy reduction under preserved autonomy). Prior UVLM work has shown that these invariants describe not only cognitive or AI systems, but also mycorrhizal networks in soil ecology, historical accounting controls such as tally sticks, and contemporary legal reforms prohibiting “gay and trans panic” defenses. This manuscript formally analyzes the feasibility of embedding the UHE within GUFT. Using a field-coherent mapping protocol, we (i) decompose each ontology into agents, channels, and governance rules; (ii) map UHE processes to ΔSyn variables; and (iii) test the resulting architecture against the ΔSyn Bound, which constrains safe compression of meaning to regimes that preserve agency and reversible reasoning. We find a near-isomorphic correspondence between UHE layers and GUFT’s control loops: UHE Layer 1 (frame stream) aligns with GUFT’s glyph-level signal dynamics; Layer 2 (specialized agent groups) with the ΔSyn coupling matrix; and Layer 3 (meta-learning and logging) with GUFT’s Lyapunov-style welfare potential and audit layer. The analysis suggests that UHE is not only compatible with GUFT, but constitutes a concrete engineering instantiation of it. We also identify open requirements: explicit reciprocity metrics between agents, formal mutual-information estimates on frame propagation, and governance constraints to prevent decoherent “panic” channels analogous to banned bias-based legal defenses. We conclude that GUFT serves as a unifying evaluative layer capable of testing whether diverse architectures—ecological, legal, financial, or cognitive—remain within a safe, agency-preserving coherence regime.
