An investigation on the contribution of Industry 4.0 to India's Economic Growth – A Review

Abstract Industry 4.0, characterized by the integration of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, Big Data, and Cloud Computing, is transforming the global industrial landscape. In the Indian context, Industry 4.0 plays a crucial role in enhancing productivity, improving efficiency, and fostering innovation across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, and services. By enabling smart factories and data-driven decision-making, it helps Indian industries remain competitive in global markets. Moreover, Industry 4.0 supports the goals of initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, thereby promoting sustainable economic growth, employment generation, and skill development. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, lack of digital infrastructure, and shortage of skilled manpower need to be addressed to harness its full potential. Overall, Industry 4.0 is a catalyst for India’s transition towards a knowledge-driven economy and plays a pivotal role in accelerating long-term economic development.
