Customized Toric Intraocular Lens for Correction of High Corneal Astigmatism Secondary to Trachoma
We report a case of successful correction of high corneal astigmatism by implantation of customized toric intraocular lens (tIOL), in a 75-year-old female patient, presenting with corneal scarring secondary to trachoma in childhood. Preoperative topography showed irregular cornea with superior flattening corresponding to the area of corneal scarring and poor quality of vision due to high fourth-order aberrations. She has good visual acuity gain after cataract surgery. Optimal and predictable outcomes can be attained by customizing tIOLs for cases of high corneal astigmatism.
