Commentary: Precision Medicine and the Chaos Theory in Rheumatoid Arthritis — A Systems Dynamics Perspective
Triaille et al. recently proposed chaos theory as a conceptual framing for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This commentary extends the analysis using a formal dynamical-systems perspective derived from the Universal Resonance Model (URM). Three mechanisms are emphasised: (1) instability arises from feedback geometry rather than molecular magnitude; (2) early-warning indicators — variance (σ²), autocorrelation (ρ(τ)), and Lyapunov softening (λ₁→0) — precede flare onset; and (3) the Reset Window represents a mathematically identifiable interval of heightened therapeutic responsiveness. URM situates RA within a coherent dynamical architecture common to immune, autonomic and vascular systems, supporting predictive modelling and timing-sensitive clinical interventions.
