Precision in Pigment Customization: “The Safe Path to Promised Gratifying Subjective and Objective Esthetics”

Aim: Our aim of the study was to evaluate outcomes of customized keratopigmentation (KTP). The objective of our study was to evaluate the subjective and objective outcomes of customized KTP, the safety of the procedure, color maintenance or fading, and patient satisfaction in terms of cosmesis. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective and interventional study performed on 16 patients between June 2020 and November 2022. Patients were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patients were evaluated on intraoperative and postoperative complications, stability of dye, and were scored on a subjective scale of satisfaction with the help of the WHOQOL BREF questionnaire. Results: The mean age of patients was 33.75 ± 18.75 years. The majority of patients had very thin corneal opacity caused by trauma. Among them, 68.75% had corneal vascularization, 50% had band-shaped keratopathy, and 68.75% had exotropia. 37.5% of patients had excellent cosmesis, 56.3% had good cosmesis, and 6.25% had poor cosmesis after KTP. Regarding daily living satisfaction, 50% of patients reported good satisfaction, 43.75% reported excellent satisfaction, and 6.25% reported poor satisfaction. Conclusion: Modern, superficial automated KTP is a relatively simple and highly safe procedure with no significant intraoperative or postoperative complications and gratifying outcomes.
