A highly efficient approach to solketal from acetone and glycerol with the supramolecular catalysis of cucurbit[6]uril

A new glycerol ketalization pathway without acids or alkalis was explored with the cucurbit[6]uril-mediated supramolecular catalysis, affording the solketal in up to 98% yield. A reasonable catalytic mechanism was proposed.
