HOLDING: Ontology of the Fugue
The fugue—musical and architectural at once—is the space in which this holding occurs. The joint between stones that holds the building together by being absent. The fugue in Bach's art, where voices chase each other without ever catching up. The ontology attempted here is not a doctrine of beings. It is a doctrine of the between—of what lies before beings and first makes them possible. And it is itself a holding: an attempt to remain in this between without closing it. The fugue holds. Not because we understand it.But because we carry it.⁂F = ∫ h(t) · ∇Ψ · dΩThe ethical lives in the between. The fugue holds.
