A new water-soluble Ni( <scp>ii</scp> ) complex as a prototype of metallodrugs to treat toxoplasmosis

The Ni( ii ) compound showed higher activity (IC 50 = 380 nM) on T. gondii than sulfadiazine and was nontoxic to the host cell (selective index > 1800). TEM studies showed that the compound induces deformation in the parasite's conoid structure.

Abstract

The Ni( ii ) compound showed higher activity (IC 50 = 380 nM) on T. gondii than sulfadiazine and was nontoxic to the host cell (selective index > 1800). TEM studies showed that the compound induces deformation in the parasite's conoid structure.
