Modern tools for ADHD detection and diagnosis: Psychometric analysis and improvement perspectives
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neuro developmental disorder characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Accurate diagnosis is critical for effective intervention, yet current practices often rely on subjective measures. This article presents a systematic review of psychometric and neuropsychological tools commonly used in the diagnosis of ADHD, including SNAP-IV, Conners’ CRS-R, Vanderbilt, ADHD-RS-IV, the Continuous Performance Test (CPT), Stroop Test, and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST). Special attention is given to the integration of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in assessment procedures, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and accessibility. Furthermore, the article highlights the need for culturally adapted diagnostic tools in the Greek context and proposes directions for future research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
