Chronon Field : From Timeless Constraints to Operational
This article establishes the operational and mathematical backbone of the Chronon Field framework. Starting from the problem of time in canonical quantum gravity and relational descriptions of change, it asks whether a local tempo degree of freedom can be formulated without replacing or modifying the spacetime geometry of General Relativity. The framework distinguishes a representative local frequency Φ(x), with dimensions of inverse time, from the dimensionless normalized tempo factor Φ̂(x)=Φ(x)/Φ₀. A global multiplicative rescaling of Φ carries no observable information; physical content is therefore restricted to gauge-safe ratios, logarithmic differences, gradients, endpoint residuals and explicitly instrumented closure observables. The article separates three sectors that must not be conflated: phase or cadence, coherence loss Γ≥0, and the signed balance term Σ appearing in the kinematic current relation Jμ=Φ̂uμ. The operational cadence parameter dτΦ=Φ̂⁻¹dtlab is explicitly distinguished from the metric proper time of General Relativity. A weak-field residual variable, χΦ=lnΦ̂−U/c², provides the bridge to precision metrology. The GR gravitational redshift remains the baseline and only a residual surviving GR subtraction and instrumental corrections can enter the Chronon sector. The paper also develops the endpoint-closure condition, gauge discipline and a variationally defensible Zero-Energy baseline. It defines the boundary between the minimal non-energetic Chronon framework and any future energetic or metric extension. The result is a constrained, falsifiable formalism designed to connect conceptual questions about intrinsic time with optical clocks, quantum coherence and CHRONON-1 differential tests.
