Using a qualitative approach, participants’ experiences of breakups were explored to identify strategies of self-affirmation and their effects on emotional regulation, coping, and resilience. The findings highlight the potential of self-affirmation interventions to support recovery after romantic rejection, providing insights for both clinical practice and self-help applications.

Keywords: Self-affirmation, Romantic breakup, Cognitive coping, Emotional regulation, Relationship psychology

Publication: International Journal of Indian Psychology, Volume 12, Issue 4, 2024
Original DOI: 10.25215/1204.052
Link to PDF: https://ijip.in/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/18.01.052.20241204.pdf
