D3.1 HUB Guidelines (BioINSouth project)

The BioINSouth project supports the CBE-JU Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda by developing guidelines and tools to improve sustainability and circularity in bio-based industries across Mediterranean Europe. This aligns with CBE-JU’s goals of accelerating innovation, enhancing market deployment, and raising environmental standards, especially in regions with lower innovation capacity. By fostering competitiveness and inclusive growth, BioINSouth advances balanced regional development and broader stakeholder engagement. The project also contributes to the Widening Strategy by targeting underdeveloped bio-based ecosystems in Mediterranean regions, strengthening research and innovation capacities, and increasing participation from underrepresented areas in EU bioeconomy initiatives. Through regional strategies, local innovation support, and stakeholder engagement, BioINSouth promotes more inclusive and equitable development. BioINSouth is establishing the BioINSouth Initiative and a collaborative framework to promote sustainable bioeconomy practices in Southern Europe. Regional HUBs will be set up as platforms for policymakers, industry, and civil society to share best practices, co-create action plans, and ensure local perspectives are included in bioeconomy strategies. These HUBs will drive sustainability and circularity in the sector, supporting the overall aims of the project. Abstract
