Glassy Universe: Geometric Origin of Fermion Masses and Electroweak Mixing from Quaternion Topology
We present a geometric model of particle physics based on the topology of unit quaternions on the 3-sphere (S³). The vacuum is modeled as an amorphous packing of Cosserat cells carrying orientational degrees of freedom, with particles emerging as topological vortices in the orientation field. Key results include: Electric Charge from Topology: The formula q = σ⋅N/3 is derived, where N is the number of active quaternion axes (0, 1, 2, or 3) and σ=±1 is the chirality. This naturally explains fractional quark charges and integer lepton charges. The Universal Angle 2/9: A single geometric number determines three fundamental parameters: Koide phase: θ₀ = 2/9 Cabibbo angle: sin(θ_C) ≈ 2/9 Weinberg angle: sin²(θ_W) = 2/9 (bare value) This number emerges from the Hopf fibration geometry. Weak Interaction Geometry: The W-boson is defined as a topological operator mediating transitions between complementary axis configurations (N → 3-N), geometrically explaining the mechanism of beta decay. The model unifies the Koide formula, Cabibbo mixing, and electroweak theory through the geometry of S³, suggesting that all of particle physics emerges from the number 2/9.
