The Glassy Universe: A Geometric Model of Vacuum Microstructure
We propose a model of vacuum as an amorphous packing of Cosserat cells — fundamental elements with spinorial degrees of freedom arranged in Random Close Packing (φ = 0.64). The model addresses five fundamental problems of physics through unified geometric principles: HIERARCHY PROBLEM: Gravity is weak because it involves second-order derivatives (bending), while electromagnetism involves first-order (shear): F_grav/F_EM ~ (a/L)² ~ 10⁻⁴⁰ ORIGIN OF SPIN: Fermions emerge from topology of oriented medium: π₁(SO(3)) = Z₂ INVERSE MASS SCALING: Particle mass scales inversely with size: m ~ ℏc/L (Compton wavelength) EMERGENT RELATIVITY: Lorentz contraction derived from soliton dynamics in Newtonian medium: L(v) = L₀/γ MEANING OF ℏ: Planck constant as elastic modulus of vacuum lattice: ℏ = J·a Key quantitative result: a/ℓ_P = φ^(-1/3) = 1.160 The theory naturally incorporates Anderson localization as UV regulator, provides geometric derivation of Koide formula for lepton masses (Q = 2/3, accuracy < 0.1%), and suggests connection between 2/3ⁿ series and fundamental constants including Cabibbo angle (θ₀ = 2/9 rad).
