A STUDY OF SOCIAL SECURITY FOR EMPLOYEES WORKING IN THE COMPANY
Social security is a vital component of employee welfare, ensuring financial stability and protection against life’s uncertainties such as illness, unemployment, disability, and vintage age. This study examines the awareness, accessibility, and effectiveness of social security measures provided to employees working in private sector companies. The findings reveal a significant gap between statutory social security provisions and actual implementation. While most employees are enrolled in schemes such as Provident Fund and Employee State Insurance, a lack of transparency and limited understanding of benefits reduce overall impact. Moreover, contractual and temporary workers often remain excluded from key entitlements. The study highlights the role of employer compliance, employee awareness, and regulatory oversight in shaping outcomes. Recommendations include the need for regular awareness programs, stricter enforcement of labour laws, and the expansion of social safety to all classes of workers. The paper concludes that strengthening social security is not only a legal and ethical obligation but also a critical factor in improving employee satisfaction, productivity, and organizational sustainability.
