On the Protection of Intellectual Property (Using the Example of Patenting Inventions in the Field of Epitaxial Structures)

Statistics on patenting in the field of epitaxial structures and their application are provided; the patent strategy of residents and nonresidents in Russian Federation is analyzed; it is shown that a patent document is not only a source of information concerning a specific technology but also a mechanism for the extraction of maximum profit from the commercialization of a development, while patent research allows for the identification of key trends in the development of technological industries and serves as a mechanism for making long-term forecasts of industry progress. Examples of comprehensive patent protection of objects in the field of epitaxial structure production are given.
