INDIA AND GLOBAL GOVERNANCE: OVERCOMING CHALLENGES AND EXPANDING INFLUENCE

India’s role in global organizations has expanded significantly, reflecting its growing economic power, diplomatic influence, and commitment to multilateralism. However, despite its active participation in institutions such as the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), G20, BRICS, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India faces challenges such as limited representation in key decision-making bodies, economic and trade constraints, geopolitical tensions, and institutional inefficiencies. To strengthen its role, India must pursue strategic measures, including advocating for UN Security Council reforms, enhancing economic diplomacy, strengthening regional cooperation, increasing financial contributions, leveraging technology and innovation, leading climate initiatives, and improving institutional efficiency. By implementing these strategies, India can secure a more influential position in shaping global policies and contribute effectively to international governance.
