Homework Is Dead. AI Killed It Rethinking Learning in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

This paper investigates how generative AI has rendered traditional homework practices unreliable and outdated. As students increasingly rely on AI tools to complete assignments, homework no longer accurately represents independent effort or genuine comprehension. This project analyzes current research on AI-driven learning behaviors, assessment challenges, and digital equity issues. It also presents a forward-looking framework that replaces homework with more authentic alternatives, including in-class practice supported by AI feedback, performance-based tasks, reflective learning activities, and AI literacy integration. The aim is to guide educators, researchers, and policymakers in redesigning assessment systems that uphold fairness, relevance, and academic rigor in an AI-driven world.
