"We're Here, We're Queer": The Reclamation of a Slur from Queer Nation to Queer Theory to Queer as Folk (1970s-2010s)

Master's thesis submitted for the degree of American Studies at Nantes Université France. This thesis focuses on sociolinguistic's strategy: word reclamation. It broaches the process and step of word reclamation, case studies of derogatory words that have been reclaimed by minority groups: Black, the N-word, slut/bitch, faggot/dyke, as well as the detailed process and historical background of the reclamation of the term "queer". As well as an analysis on its usage in the 2010s.
