Boosting alkaline hydrogen evolution <i>via</i> cobalt functionalization of organic–inorganic hybrid germanoniobate electrocatalysts

Constructed from {Ge 4 (OH) 2 Nb 16 O 54 } clusters functionalized with Co–amine complexes or en ligands, the hybrid { Co 9 (Ge 4 Nb 16 ) 2 } exhibits markedly higher hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity in alkali than its Co-free analogue { Ge 4 Nb 16 }.
