The Fractal Elastic Universe: Deriving Quantum Mechanics, Gravity, and Vacuum Energy from a Single Structural Principle

We propose a unified framework where Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity emerge as scale-dependent manifestations of a single structural principle: the elasticity of a discrete vacuum medium ("World Crystal"). We introduce a universal free energy functional that combines a bulk potential term (stabilizing the vacuum density) with a gradient elasticity term (penalizing inhomogeneity). Using Effective Field Theory (EFT), we demonstrate that: Quantum Mechanics: On microscopic scales, the gradient penalty leads directly to the Schrödinger equation via the Madelung transformation. Quantum effects are identified with the medium's elastic resistance to density fluctuations (quantum pressure). Gravity & Hierarchy: On macroscopic scales, the same functional describes gravity as a higher-order curvature effect. The weakness of gravity (G/ke ~ 10⁻⁴⁰) is resolved via geometric scaling (ℓc/L)², where ℓc is the Planck length. Vacuum Energy: The Cosmological Constant Problem is resolved via volume-preserving symmetry. The huge ground-state energy of the vacuum acts as a non-gravitating Lagrange multiplier, decoupling from the equations of motion. Mass-Energy: The equivalence E=mc² arises naturally as the elastic potential energy stored in a topological defect. This scale-invariant approach unifies the "software" of particles and the "hardware" of spacetime into a single coherent system.
