Trend and Decomposition Analysis of Pea in Himachal Pradesh

The present study was conducted to measure the trend of growth and decomposition in pea, which is vital for understanding how outputs change over time. Compound annual growth rate, instability index and decomposition analysis of peas were examined in all the districts of Himachal Pradesh. The overall CAGR was highest in the Chamba district (11.20 per cent), followed by Bilaspur district (7.30 per cent) in terms of area, whereas Hamirpur district showed negative growth (1.90 per cent). Lahaul &Spiti, Solan and Sirmour showed the lowest instability in area, production and yield of pea crops, which indicated that the area, production and yield of peas increased. The results highlighted that to enhance and sustain pea production in Himachal Pradesh, using improved varieties and agronomic practices is a better option than expanding cultivation areas, since land is scarce and fixed in supply.
