Elastic Cosserat Vacuum as a Unified Framework for Quantum Mechanics, Spin, and Gravitation
We propose an Effective Field Theory (EFT) where Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity emerge as scale-dependent limits of a unified vacuum structure. Modeling the vacuum as a Cosserat medium, we derive the action from symmetry constraints and a gradient expansion. Key derivations and results: Quantum Mechanics: The Schrödinger equation arises from the renormalization of microscopic density fluctuations. The Planck constant (ℏ) emerges not as a fundamental prior, but as a symmetry-protected stiffness modulus of the vacuum. Origin of Spin: Fermionic spin (1/2) is rigorously derived from the unavoidable topological lifting of orientational defects to the double cover Spin(3). Gravity & Hierarchy: Gravity is identified with the elastic energy of rotational defects (disclinations). The Hierarchy Problem (~10⁻⁴⁰) is resolved via the geometric ratio of bending to stretching moduli. Vacuum Energy: The Cosmological Constant problem is addressed via a unimodular constraint, decoupling the huge bulk vacuum energy from curvature. Mass-Energy: The equivalence E=mc² is derived as the hydrodynamic "added mass" of a topological defect moving through the superfluid vacuum. This framework unifies the "software" of particles (topological defects) and the "hardware" of spacetime (vacuum lattice) into a single coherent system.
