A Critical Assessment of Semiclassical Black-Hole Quantization - Why the Coniglio Framework (EPJC 2020) Cannot Evaluate a Closed Variational Theory

This paper provides a technical and conceptual analysis of the semiclassical black–hole quantization model proposed by G. Coniglio in Eur. Phys. J. C 80, 894 (2020).The model applies a Bohr–type quantization rule to Schwarzschild black holes, assumesa fixed classical background geometry, and employs non–relativistic transitionformulas to infer a discrete mass spectrum and associated gravitational–wave frequencies. We show that these steps lack covariant justification, are not derivablefrom any action principle, and contradict known features of general relativity andquantum field theory in curved spacetime. In particular, the assumptions of a staticclassical geometry during quantum transitions, externally imposed constants, and theuse of non–relativistic quantization conditions on a strongly curved manifold renderthe resulting spectrum physically inconsistent. Finally, we demonstrate that semiclassicalframeworks of this type cannot be compared to, or used to evaluate, closedvariational theories in which geometry and constants emerge from the underlyingfield dynamics.
