Examining the Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Life Expectancy and Emotion Regulation Strategies in Civil Engineering Graduates
e present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on increasing life expectancy and improving emotion regulation strategies among civil engineering graduates. The statistical population included all civil engineering graduates in Shiraz city, from which a convenient sample of 30 individuals (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group) was selected. The experimental group underwent eight 90-minute sessions of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Data were collected using Snyder et al.'s (1991) Life Expectancy Questionnaire and Garnefski et al.'s (2001) Emotion Regulation Strategies Questionnaire. The results of multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) indicated that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy had a significant effect on increasing life expectancy and improving emotion regulation strategies among civil engineering graduates. Additionally, the therapy led to changes in emotion regulation strategies in civil engineering graduates. The findings confirm the importance of applying Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in promoting mental health and well-being among engineering graduates.
