Medical Data Security Using Bio-Contextual Cognitive Encryption (BCCE)

With the rapid expansion of digital health systems, electronic health records (EHR), smart medical devices, and telemedicine platforms, medical data security has become a critical and sensitive global concern. Medical data—including personal identifiers, treatment histories, prescriptions, imaging data, and genetic information—are highly valuable and vulnerable. Unauthorized access can lead to severe consequences ranging from identity theft to direct life-threatening manipulation of medical equipment or drug dosages. Traditional security approaches—such as symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, classical biometrics, and multi-factor authentication—have essential limitations. Their keys or authentication factors are static, vulnerable to theft or replication, and unable to dynamically adapt to real human or environmental conditions. This paper introduces Bio-Contextual Cognitive Encryption (BCCE), a novel and pioneering approach that generates dynamic, real-time encryption keys based on three categories of live data: (1) physiological biosignals (ECG, EEG, EDA), (2) cognitive-psychological states (focus, stress, cognitive load), and (3) environmental context (location, department type, time, equipment state). As a result, medical data become accessible only when a precise human and environmental state is verified. The paper presents the full architecture of BCCE, its deep learning–based key generation engine, applications in smart hospitals, advantages, limitations, security analysis, and practical hospital scenarios. Keywords: Medical Data Security, Cognitive Encryption, Biosignal Security, Dynamic Key Generation, Smart Hospitals, Bio-Contextual Systems
