Peer review Corradini
This commentary examines the manuscript "Structural and Spectroscopic Constraints on CO2-bearing Silicate Melts" (EPSL, 2016) by CORRADINI. Several claims in this paper are not only unsupported by evidence, but are physically impossible within any consistent variational, electronic structure, or field theory formulation. Specifically, the manuscript confuses environmental network distortions with intrinsic geometry, misinterprets spectroscopy as a structural generator, and extracts equilibrium angles from MD trajectories that are too short to be physically valid. Here, I provide a thorough technical rebuttal, along with a correct variational treatment of the Si–O–Si angle and a line-by-line demolition of the original paper. I would like to know how this individual can call himself an academic physicist and a reefer in APS.
