Enhanced Observer Strategies for Actuator Fault Detection in Hydraulic Systems: A Comparative Study
The goal of this paper is to optimize fault detection for complex systems using observer-based techniques, with an application to actuator faults in the presence of unknown inputs like noise and modeling errors. We compare the classical Leuenberger observer with a robust observer having perfect decoupling. The results show that the robust observer significantly improves fault detection and localization even under noisy conditions. Both methods are validated on hydraulic processes in order to prove the robustness and reliability of the proposed approach.
