Press release: 2nd Stakeholders' Retreat, 23 -24 September 2025

Press release: 2nd Stakeholders’ Retreat, 23 -24 September 2025 The BrightSpace Horizon Europe project held its 2nd Stakeholders’ Retreat on 23–24 September 2025 in Leuven, Belgium, bringing together partners, policymakers, and experts to advance its roadmap for guiding EU agriculture toward a Safe and Just Operating Space. Participants reviewed analytical progress, including the Business-as-Usual and Challenging baselines projecting agricultural, environmental, and economic developments to 2050. Through a structured consultation, stakeholders co-developed four exploratory transition narratives — Go Global, Fortress EU, Food Sovereignty, and Sustainable Competitiveness — reflecting key uncertainties in market orientation and societal values. The retreat strengthened collaboration and generated qualitative insights that will feed into upcoming scenario modelling, supporting the design of effective, evidence-based, and equitable transition pathways for the future of EU agriculture. ------------ Further information BrightSpace Project coordination: Wageningen Economic Research, The Hague, NLContact: [email protected] | Website: www.brightspace-project.eu Project duration: 1 November 2022 – 31 October 2027 Funded by the European Union.
