Hygrothermal Wave Propagation of Embedded Temperature-Dependent Poroelastic Plates Based on Higher-Order Theories

Poroelastic materials are promising materials that can be used as enhanced constitutive materials for industrial applications. These industrial applications are in various environmental conditions, which can affect the mechanical performance of such applications. So, here, it is decided to employ an analytical solution to solve the wave propagation problem of poroelastic functionally graded (FG) plates resting on the Kerr foundation in the hygrothermal environment. Kinetic relations of poroelastic plates are developed based on three higher-order shear deformable theories (HSDTs) while proposing a novel HSDT. SUS304 and ZrO 2 are considered as constituent materials of a poroelastic plate whose properties are temperature-dependent. The novelty of this study lies in integrating temperature-dependent FG porous properties, hygrothermal loading, and Kerr foundation effects within a unified dispersion framework. In addition, a new higher-order shear deformation function is proposed and compared with existing models. The results reveal previously unreported coupled influences of porosity, foundation stiffness, and hygrothermal environment on both wave frequency and phase velocity, providing insights for the design of advanced FG structural components. The results of the proposed theory are validated by the results of recent investigations. The effective material properties are estimated using the improved power-law scheme. Then, Hamilton’s principle has been implemented to obtain the governing equations and harmonic functions are utilized to solve the derived equations. Finally, the effects of different important factors, including Kerr foundation parameters, wave number, porosity coefficient, HSDTs and hygrothermal environment have been studied and discussed comprehensively in detail.
