Transfer of GaAs Solar Cells to Unprecedented Flexible Polymeric Bases of PVC:PMMA:DOP Modified with EG
Single GaAs solar cells, Produced by Metalorganic Vapor Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE) on a rigid GaAs substrate, were transferred to an unprecedented flexible polymer blend of PVC:PMMA:DOP (1.0:1.0:0.5) modified with exfoliated graphene (EG). The exfoliated graphene was employed to enhance properties such as thermal and mechanical resistance of the polymeric bases. The blend with EG adhered perfectly to the solar cells, providing the necessary mechanical support. The current–voltage measurements on the rigid cells and after their transfer to flexible substrates showed that the cell’s efficiency remained unchanged following the transfer. Therefore, we can conclude that PVC:PMMA:DOP blends modified with EG show great potential for use as a flexible base in high-efficiency photovoltaic cells.
