Abboud, M. (2025). "'God Is Pure Person and Pure Activity': Interpreting Anwar Frangi's Theological Axiom."
DisclaimerThis work is published with the full authorization and endorsement of Professor Anwar Frangi. It represents a faithful extension of his original framework, drawing on materials from the unpublished fourth volume of Groupal Religion (2015), which centers on Frangi’s Vision (1977), and reflecting years of groupal engagement through the Oral Summer Groupal Seminars (OSGS, 1998-present). All OSGS quotations are transcribed by Professor Frangi himself and are cited with their respective session dates. Abstract Anwar Frangi’s declaration that “God is Pure Person and Pure Activity” encapsulates the core of his theological system and provides the interpretive key to his 1977 Vision. The formula unites two divine modalities that humanity has historically separated: Pure Person, revealed in the Christic era, and Pure Activity, inaugurated through Frangi’s mandate for the Age of the Group. Within the Vision, the Christ represents the completion of the personal revelation, while the formation of the “walking group” embodies the divine transition toward collective creation. This article interprets Frangi’s formula as both a theological synthesis and a revelatory program: It defines God not as alternating between Person and Activity, but as eternally both: unity and movement, identity and creation. Frangi’s later works, notably Groupal Religion, Creocracy, and Democracy of History, extend this insight into a comprehensive system for reactivating divine creativity within humanity. The formula thus expresses the essential transformation of revelation itself: from the divine Person walking upon the waters to the divine Group walking upon the earth, where the personal sacred becomes the groupal activity. Keywords: Pure Person; Pure Activity; Vision; Revelation; Groupal Theology; Age of the Group; Persona-Petrification; Anwar Frangi.
