INDIA'S ROLE IN MITIGATING US-CHINA TRADE TENSIONS THROUGH G20 PLATFORMS: A STRATEGIC ANALYSIS OF MULTILATERAL DIPLOMACY AND ECONOMIC MEDIATION
Growing trade disputes between the United States and China have become one of the most serious threats to the world economic stability in the 21st century. Following the endless trade wars between the two giant economies in the world, the necessity of efficient mediation tools has never been as acute. This study focuses on strategic engagement of India in resolving US-China trade tensions within channels of Group of Twenty (G20) as to consider how unique geopolitical position, economic interest and diplomatic policy of India have made this country a potential bridge-builder between the US and China in their economical conflict. By acting as a G20 president in 2023 and involvement in various multilateralism platforms, India has proved to have the potential to act as a negotiating party that facilitates discussion, supports inclusive economic practices, and promotes the cause of reformed multilateralism that not only upholds the interests of major powers but also safeguards those of emerging economies.
