μLectures: Intravital microscopy
This presentation is part of the μLecture series about useful microscopy-related topics, organized by the Microscopy Service Centre, IEM CAS. It explores the use of live animals in microscopy and introduces intravital imaging as a powerful tool for studying biological processes in their native physiological context. It discusses when intravital imaging is the method of choice and when alternative approaches may be more appropriate. The presentation also addresses how the core facility supports researchers in establishing and carrying out such experiments. In addition, it explains the principles of intravital two- and three-photon microscopy, highlights their advantages and limitations, and summarizes the benefits these techniques can offer.
