Embolic Myocardial Infarction from Takayasu Arteritis
Takayasu arteritis (TAK) is an uncommon autoimmune disease that presents significant challenges in diagnosis owing to its diverse clinical manifestations. Due to the vascular inflammatory process, thromboembolism can arise as a consequential complication. Here we present a noteworthy instance of TAK manifesting as an ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (MI) due to a complete embolic left main coronary artery (LMCA) occlusion. This case highlights the utility of integrating multimodality imaging techniques in the management and diagnosis of TAK, which guided the appropriate multidisciplinary management and resulted in a favorable long-term outcome.
