Global Collaboration, European Implementation: RDA Europe driving Open Science

Presentation delivered at the Open Science Today and Tomorrow conference organized in Vilnius, Lithuania in October 2025. ABSTRACT: RDA Europe plays a key role in advancing open science across the continent. As the European regional arm of the global Research Data Alliance, RDA Europe facilitates dialogue, capacity building, and collaboration among European-based data communities and between European and global data communities. RDA Europe ensures global RDA outputs have direct impact in Europe by encouraging their adoption; at the same time, RDA Europe supports alignment between the European and global data communities, helping to identify shared challenges and encouraging exchange of technical and social solutions to research data sharing and re-use related issues. Its activities include the RDA Europe Summit, a European RDA event fostering collective reflection and action, training workshops that strengthen skills in FAIR data and research data management, and the RDA TIGER project, which provides support services to RDA Working Groups that develop outputs relevant to the European Open Science Cloud. By promoting the internationalisation of European initiatives and enabling the adoption of global standards for research data sharing and reuse, RDA Europe strengthens European engagement and drives a sustainable culture of open science across Europe.
