D4.3 Report on the results of consultations government ministries and funding agencies

EuroGO-SHIP aims to produce a ‘blueprint’ for a future RI that supports European hydrography and dovetails well with the existing RI landscape, but which also sits well with the funding agencies and institutions who will ultimately fund, deliver and benefit from the structure. This activity addresses this latter part by seeking to understand the existing international structures that these activities operate in, the scale of these activities and the decision-making structure that operates around nations entering RIs. To deliver this understanding we engaged in a discussion with JPI Oceans, the EuroGOOS operations committee and with individuals/organisations across the European community involved in delivering hydrography. Together these activities have enabled us to build a strong understanding of the value that funding agencies place on hydrography, the structure of hydrographic activities within European countries and the ways in which decisions related to entering RIs are made. This deliverable report describes the activities.
