Directional Dynamostasis: Anisotropic Energy Equilibrium Mediated by Helicity in Turbulent Φ Fields
We introduce directional dynamostasis—a dynamic equilibrium in which energy-density changes are balanced by anisotropic, axis-dependent flux compensations mediated by helicity and geometric curvature. Using Johns Hopkins Turbulence Database (JHTDB) DNS time series (downsampled to (64^3), (T=90)), we reconstruct a surrogate scalar field (\Phi(\mathbf{x},t)) via Poisson-type inversion, form a generalized energy tensor, and estimate slice-wise dynamostatic slopes with Savitzky–Golay filtering and HAC (Newey–West) inference. We find reproducible axis-specific correlations between dynamostatic trends and helicity/curvature (e.g., (r_x(\mu,H)=0.943), (p<0.01)) and predominantly negative informational impedance (Z_\Phi), indicating a restoring, dissipative feedback. Null-model tests against K41 isotropy (permutation and spectral surrogates) reject axis-indistinguishability. Results challenge the K41 assumption of local isotropy, reveal chiral–geometric control of energy balance, and suggest anisotropic closures (direction-dependent (\kappa_i)) for LES/RANS, with clear pathways for laboratory validation (controlled helicity injection) and extension to MHD flows.
